COLOMBO / Sri Lanka's inflation, based on the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), dropped to 22.1 percent in May, the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) revealed on Wednesday.
Headline inflation for April was 33.6 percent, as per the NCPI.Inflation in the food category dropped to 15.8 percent in May from 27.1 percent in April.
Inflation in the non-food group decreased to 27.6 percent in May from 39.0 percent in April.
Sri Lanka's central bank has reiterated that the anticipated declining inflation trend was expected to continue through 2023, bringing down the prevailing high inflation towards single-digit figures by late 2023.
